ASLI, the Association of Sign Language Interpreters in the United Kingdom was established in 1987, to provide professional discussion on all issues related to sign language interpreting and the provision of interpreting service.
Our aims are simple: to encourage good practice in sign language interpreting and to support our fellow professionals.

Shadowing Guidelines for interpreters to shadow other practitioners to further their understanding and knowledge of a wider range of domains and working practices. A set of minimum recommended standards for interpreters working in the domain of online video interpreting. Work on the creation of procedures to fairly treat members who are taking a career break for a variety of reasons. The development of a set of minimum recommended standards for Agencies engaging the services of BSL/English interpreters. Formal arrangements to work together with the Deaf Community on matters of mutual interest. Continuous and close involvement with the National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind people (NRCPD)
