Legal Masterclass

Two Day Residential Masterclass for Interpreters and Deaf Relay Interpreters Working in the Legal Domain

Two days stuck in a hotel with a group of like-minded peers!
A dream come true or your worst nightmare?!

This is an exciting new masterclass for experienced interpreters working with the police and courts. The weekend is aimed at those wishing to take their professional skills to a new level.

This masterclass will focus on many of the more complex issues we have to deal with when working in this challenging domain; issues such as working as a professional team, dealing with complex legal concepts, language and translation issues and developing our language skills to enable us to function effectively. We will look at a variety of strategies to enhance your performance and offer an excellent opportunity for networking with others in the field.

The weekend will be facilitated by Byron Campbell, and a team of other highly skilled professionals. We also have a District Court Judge joining the master class for a Q & A session and an opportunity to elicit the views of the bench on how we can provide the highest level of service to the courts.

Included in the fees are two full days of interactive discussions and presentations, an evening session on the Saturday, all meals, refreshments and first class accommodation.

The masterclass will be offered twice in October/November. The first weekend will be held near Stratford-upon-Avon on the 20th & 21st October. The second weekend will be in Leeds on the 17th & 18th November. Venues details will be sent on acceptance of your place on the masterclass.

A separate masterclass will be offered in November for Deaf Relay Interpreters. This weekend will be held on the 24th & 25th November in Birmingham.

Places will be very limited on each weekend so early applications are advised. Please email the following details to byronsli@aol.com

Your name and contact details, number of years experience in the legal field, what you are hoping to gain from this masterclass and which weekend you wish to attend, Stratford-upon-Avon or Leeds.

The total cost of the masterclass will be £325. A deposit of £75 will be payable upon confirmation of your place on the weekend, the remainder of the fees will be payable 4 weeks before the event. Invoices will be sent with your booking confirmation. If you have any questions regarding the masterclass, please email me and I will reply as soon as possible. I look forward to seeing you on what will undoubtedly be an informative, stimulating and fun weekend.
