About Me Daryl is a qualified BSL/English interpreter (RSLI) registered with the National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD); Daryl become a fully qualified BSL/English Interpreter in 2015. Daryl holds an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formally CRB), current Professional Indemnity Insurance and is a Member of the Association of Sign Language Interpreters (ASLI), Visual Language Professionals (VLP) and the Association of Deaf Education Professionals and Trainees (ADEPT) (NRCPD: 1016523, ASLI: 1791). Daryl is a confident communicator with experience in working with Deafblind and Deaf children and adults in roles such as an Intervenor, support worker, mentor, Communication Support Worker (CSW), TSLI and RSLI. He is adept in providing communication support, Deaf advocacy for others and Deaf awareness training to professionals and students. Daryl has a particular knowledge of higher education and Deafness; he has experience and skills in working with young people and adults with additional needs, disabilities and behavioural differences. He holds a First Class BSc (hons) Psychology degree and has a a keen interest in Deafness, D/deaf experiences and research within this field. Daryl has worked for a variety of organisations from the NHS, lower and higher education sector, as well as large and small charitable organisations and private businesses. Daryl was born and now works and lives in Plymouth, Devon. When not working and providing his communication services, he enjoys volunteering for various charities, such as National Deaf Children Society (NDCS) , Plymouth Deaf Children Society (PDCS), Blake Lodge Centre (Plymouth Deaf Association), and Sense, as well as regularly running with his dog or getting lost whilst walking in the countryside.
