Mid South Coast Region
The Mid South Coast (MSC) membership is a blend of experienced Registered Sign Language Interpreters, those recently qualified and Trainee Sign Language Interpreters en-route to becoming qualified. This diversity provides a wealth of knowledge to draw on as we consider various aspects relating to the work we undertake as well as a broad understanding of the developments within the interpreting profession as a whole.
MSC covers Hampshire and Dorset but we also have members from the bordering counties of Berkshire, Sussex and Surrey. We meet every two months, usually on the third Saturday, we rotate the location of the meetings across the region to maximise opportunities for members to attend. In addition to providing peer support, training and networking opportunities we always look forward to the annual social event.
MSC also organises appropriate Continuing Professional Development training sessions which comply with and count towards the required NRCPD CPD hours. These sessions are usually held in the afternoon following the bi-monthly meeting and details are made available on the ASLI Events Calendar. As well as inviting professional trainers to facilitate sessions, we also capitalise on the skills and knowledge of our regional members to develop our skills in a variety of areas relevant to the interpreting profession.
We welcome new members and anyone wanting to attend one of our meetings as a visitor should get in touch with our Regional Chairs David Phippard and Colette Phippard.
